PASTORS CHARLES & MARILYN SMITH:

Pastor Charles and his dear wife, Pastor Marilyn, are the founding pastors of Labor of Love USA. They've served the Lord in ministry together since 1983.

In 1983, they arrived in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, from upstate NY, and started Tabernacle of Joy Church and Labor of Love Ministries, which would later become, Labor of Love USA, in the late 90's.

Ephesians 4:11,12 echos their hearts desire for the ministry: "And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ."

In the late 1980's and early 90's, during a time when christian rock music was not so well looked upon, they trail-blazed a path in the church world, bringing in countless contemporary christian concerts in the Pocono's. These concerts impacted countless lives for Christ, young and old. It was and still is their desire to show people that you can love God and have a good time.

In 2002, Pastor Charles volunteered his time, as chaplain for a team in the USBL, an NBA developmental league, coached by the late NBA legend, Darryl Dawkins, also known as, "Chocolate Thunder." Pastor Charles, also known as PC, and Darryl became best friends over the years until his passing in 2015. PC was honored to  dedicate/baptize two of Darryl's children and officiated his funeral service.

PC continues to pastor many professional athletes, mainly in the NBA basketball arena.

Pastor Marilyn is a published author, mainly known for her book, "Abrahams Promise: Ruth," which reveals the love Jesus has for the gentile bride. It illustrates, through the biblical book of Ruth, the types and shadows that symbolize future events in the nation of Israel. She has a deep desire and passion to teach God's word, and through the Old Testament, reveal hidden truths and what they mean for us today.

In 2008, they were honored together and named the Stroud Area Regional Police Department Chaplains (SARPD).

Together they have 7 adult children, Michael, Dawn, Robin, Jason, Charles, Kimberly and Casey and many grandchildren. In 1992, their oldest daughter Dawn passed away at the age of 17 in a fatal car accident. In 2015, they lost their son Jason and in 2019, their son Charles, due to a long battle of drug addiction. They continue ministering at Labor of Love USA, along side of their ever growing family and ministry family.
